Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting Course (MBCP) for women and couples (or birth partners)

The 9-week (2.5 hours per week) mindfulness-based course includes the physiology of childbirth, ways to use the mind to work with pain during labour, positions for birthing, partner support skills, parenting a newborn baby, breastfeeding, mindful movement, and mindful communication for living life.

During class we will use discussion and curiosity to:

  • Access physical and mental relaxation
  • Learn to engage the mind to work with pain during labour
  • Increase confidence and courage for the experience of labour and birthing, and feel more empowered in whatever context and place birthing occurs
  • Practice prenatal movement for strength and flexibility  
  • Explore positions for birthing
  • Develop skills for managing stress in pregnancy, parenting and daily life
  • Enhance partner communication and support skills
  • Become more aware of our own values and approach to parenting
